SmartAstronomy's 2� 90 degree Dielectric mirror star diagonal uses New Advanced 46-Layered Multicoated Dielectric mirror coatings for a full 99% reflectivity. The mirror�s 10mm thickness is 1/10th wave BK7 optical glass. The housing is machined from solid aluminum. The body construction weighs 17 ounces. The barrel is threaded to accept standard 2� filters. The 2� eyepiece holder uses a non-marring brass compression ring to secure 2� eyepieces and the 1.25�eyepiece adapter (also brass ring) in place rather than a thumbscrew that can scratch an eyepiece barrel by tightening down on it directly. The extra long and large chrome thumbscrew for the brass compression ring is a full 1/2� in diameter. The 2� Dielectric diagonal works with any Refractor that uses a 2�star diagonal. It can also be used with Schmidt-Cassegrain, or Maksutov with adapter. |
